James Scholz on Taxes: A Fair and Equitable System
A strong and healthy middle-class is key to the future prosperity of America. Missourians are paying the highest across the board income tax rates in our history and this can no longer be tolerated.
- Encourage small business investment to grow the tax-base; not increase taxes on those already paying
- Close loop-holes that exempt some from paying taxes
- I support moving away from our current tax system and moving towards a Flat and Fair Tax.
- Lower taxes, no deductions, no loopholes. This is the most fair and equitable method of taxation.
James Scholz on National Debt: A Legacy We Cannot Pass On
We need to ask the basic question: Where is the fiscal accountability and responsibility in Washington? Congress is out of control. As a nation we spend $178 Billion just on the interest of our National Debt alone. President Obama and the Congress continue to push unwanted Bailouts to failing businesses with our money. We cannot afford any more tax and spend policies.
- All unused and repaid TARP and Bailout money should be used to pay down National Debt – not redistributed to
more useless programs
- Balanced Budgets Each and Every Year
James Scholz on Health Care: Real Solution, Not Political Answers
Despite major acts of legislation by this recent Congress little has been done in actual reform. I know that we can no longer hide behind political maneuvering. There is no doubt that the system is broke, but we do not need the Federal Government dictating the terms of our Health Care.
- The government is charged with providing for the “general welfare,” not provide free health care.
Several options for real reform were never considered like tort reform and allowing competition and the purchase of health insurance over state lines.
- Federal Health care regulation is in need of an overhaul. This is especially true of Medicare and Medicaid.
James Scholz on Education: High-Tech Education For The Future
America's schools are failing our children and, at the same time, China and India have more honor students than we have kids. Can we reclaim our technological and innovative advantage?
Improving Kindergarten through 12th grade Math and Science is key to keeping America competitive in this new century. These skills will keep high-wage and high-skilled jobs from being exported overseas. Now is the time to stake our claim in the future by investing in education.
- Empower teachers at the local level to teach children without interference
- Encourage School Administrators to adopt systematic change to the way schools are run
- Redirect misspent funds for grants to pay teachers an adequate wage.
We must immediately educate our math and science teachers so they can start preparing America’s kids for an increasingly digital and competitive world.
No Child Left Behind is not working and educators will attest to this fact. This program has cost taxpayers billions of dollars and has provided little results. I propose the repeal of this unnecessary act.
James Scholz on Small Business: The Backbone of Working America
I am a business owner and have personally felt the crunch of government regulation and the preferential treatment that unfairly favors certain businesses. Small and medium, like most industries in West Central Missouri, are the founding class of prosperity and innovation in this great Nation.
- We need a more competitive bid system for government contracts that level the playing-field for all businesses.
- I will “hold the line” and defend the ability of business owners to operate freely and fairly without interference from government or the special interests that often control Washington.
James Scholz on Right to Keep and Bear Arms: An Undeniable Right
I am a firm supporter of the 2nd Amendment. As Americans it is our unequivocal right to “keep and bear arms.” As your representative I would protect that right at the Federal level and return gun-control measures to the will of people of the State of Missouri alone.
James Scholz on Immigration Reform: Enforcement and Common Sense
This Nation was built by immigrants that worked hard and we continue to benefit from the fruit of their and our labors. I believe that everyone has the right to live the American Dream, but it must be done in an orderly and legal fashion. Those in this country illegally, no matter their country of origin, have broken our laws by over-staying a Visa or entering without going through the proper channels in the first place.
- Close Visa loopholes. H1B Visas are used in the hotel industry to get low paying positions through “front” companies bending the laws of “seasonal help” and keeping jobs from natural American citizen's or those here legally.
- Enforce existing immigration laws already in effect.
James is a supporter of the "working man and woman".
He firmly believes in "unionization" to protect workers and supports the Railroad Workers Unions. James is against Railroad management tearing up track and believes in maintaining and adding to existing track. This benefits towns in the district who can expand and add businesses based on available and future railroads.
